The Official Handover: Completing an Orderly Notice Window

In formal regulatory disclosures submitted to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and BSE Limited under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements), Bandhan Bank Limited announced the formal cessation of Rajeev Mantri as Chief Financial Officer and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP), effective from the close of business hours on September 25, 2026.

Mantri, who initially submitted his resignation on June 29, 2026, to pursue career advancement outside the organization, completed a comprehensive 90-day handover period designed to prevent operational disruption in the bank's core accounting, treasury, and investor relations functions.

Why it matters

Strategic Context: Navigating the Post-Founder Structural Shift

The leadership handover takes place during a foundational period in Bandhan Bank’s history:

  1. Portfolio De-risking: Following the retirement of founding MD & CEO Chandra Shekhar Ghosh, Bandhan Bank has been actively working to dilute its portfolio concentration in unsecured micro-banking (Emerging Entrepreneurs Business - EEB), which has historically been susceptible to regional climate shocks, election cycles, and rural indebtedness.
  2. Expansion of Secured Books: The bank has been redirecting its balance sheet toward affordable housing loans, vehicle loans, gold loans, and commercial business banking to achieve a balanced 50:50 ratio between secured and unsecured assets.
  3. Credit Cost Normalization: With fresh regulatory guidelines on asset classification and provisioning cushions, the incoming finance leadership faces the imperative of steering the lender through normalizing credit costs and maintaining net interest margin (NIM) resilience above 6.5%.

Dalal Street analysts will closely monitor Jain’s first public investor communication during the upcoming Q2 FY27 earnings call in October 2026, where guidance on credit costs, MFI collection efficiency, and permanent C-suite appointments will be front and center.
