Reliance Industries reported consolidated net profit of ₹95,754 crore for FY26, equivalent to $10.1 billion at current exchange rates. The figure positions RIL comfortably ahead of State Bank of India and HDFC Bank, cementing its status as India's most profitable listed company.

The milestone reflects the maturation of capital-heavy investments made over the past decade. Mukesh Ambani built out Jio and Reliance Retail from scratch—decisions that drew criticism from analysts concerned about debt levels. Those networks are now generating compounding free cash flow at scale.

RIL's performance extends beyond its dominance in oil, retail, and telecom. The profit figure serves as a macroeconomic indicator of the Indian consumer market's scale and the ability of domestic corporations to operate at volumes previously reserved for global mega-caps.

The question for corporate India now is straightforward: which companies follow Reliance to the $10 billion profit threshold next?

Why it matters

For DSAs and lending platforms, Reliance's scale signals a structural shift in India's credit ecosystem. As domestic corporations generate profits at global mega-cap levels, working capital cycles deepen, supply chain financing becomes more complex, and opportunities for structured lending expand. Platforms distributing credit to supplier networks, vendor financing arms, and large enterprise ecosystems will benefit from this maturation.

Connectors and sub-DSAs focused on retail or small-business lending should note the broader pattern: when large corporates achieve global profitability, credit demand across their value chains—from vendors to dealers to last-mile distribution—accelerates. Fintech and lending platforms can position themselves as infrastructure for these expanding credit flows.
